ABOUT

About GovLegis

Why GovLegis exists and how we approach public accountability.

GovLegis examines how major public projects and programs are planned, funded, and executed, using publicly available documents and data. Our goal is to make complex government activity legible to the public without advocating for political outcomes or policy positions.

Mission

GovLegis is an independent, nonpartisan analysis platform focused on how major public projects and programs are planned, funded, and executed—and how outcomes change over time.

Governments publish vast amounts of information, but much of it is fragmented, technical, or difficult to interpret. GovLegis exists to make that information legible. We translate public records into clear, evidence-based analysis so the public can better understand what is happening, what was promised, and what actually occurred.

GovLegis does not advocate for political positions or policy outcomes. Our role is analytical, not persuasive.

What GovLegis Does

GovLegis examines public projects and programs through a consistent analytical framework, with emphasis on:
  • Planning assumptions and stated objectives
  • Funding sources, timelines, and cost changes
  • Procurement and delivery structures
  • Performance relative to commitments
  • Documented risks, constraints, and uncertainties
Initial coverage emphasizes U.S. public infrastructure and transportation projects, with the scope expanding over time.

Each analysis is designed to be read, cited, and challenged.

What GovLegis Is Not

GovLegis is not:
  • A news outlet or breaking-news service
  • An advocacy organization
  • A lobbying entity
  • A consulting or advisory firm
  • A substitute for legal, financial, or procurement advice
We do not promote candidates, parties, or policy agendas.

Independence

GovLegis operates independently of government agencies, political organizations, and advocacy groups.

Funding, access, or correspondence does not confer editorial control. Analyses are produced without review or approval by subjects of coverage.

Where potential conflicts or limitations exist, they are disclosed explicitly.

Transparency and Accountability

GovLegis commits to transparency in:
  • Methodology – how analyses are conducted
  • Sources – what documents and data are used
  • Limitations – where information is incomplete or uncertain
  • Corrections – how errors are addressed
Substantive corrections are documented publicly. Minor typographical errors may be corrected without notation.
